Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge: The Stamp I love but don't use

Good Monday Morning to you all!!
I am here today to share a project for the latest challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show: The stamp I love but don't use. I know you all have them....that stamp you JUST had to have, but it sits there unused and maybe even not inked... GASP :) I am guilty too :)
The stamp I am going to use today is one of those...I just had to get it, I really love it, but have only inked it up once, about a year ago!

I started the card by making a background with a technique I had yet to try from the Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities Vol 1...using drops of Ranger Alcohol Ink on Glossy Paper, and then blowing the drop with a straw to spread out the ink.

Definitely a fun technique where you are not totally in control of the outcome :) Unexpected directions the ink takes and unexpected new colours develop with layering. Very fun indeed...I will do this again. Just a word of caution....you might want to have a few straws...its like playing a wind instrument, you might add some of your DNA to the piece ;)

So pull out those neglected stamps and pop on over to Simon Says Stamp and Show to join us :) If you are in need of some awesome inspiration you can see the rest of the DT projects HERE.

Simon Says Stamp Superstore is always so generous and every week they award on lucky random participant a store voucher for $50 dollars!!!
Have a fantastic day! Thanks for stopping by to visit! Hugs, TRace

Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge: Metal-ology

Good Monday morning to you all!! I know....just trying to be positive :)
This week, our challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show is to incorporate some form of metal into your project. I immediately thought this would make a perfect manly card for my hubby :)

I started by laying down chipboard letters on some scrap paper. I cut-out random rectangle shapes from Rangers Foil Tape Sheets, and smoothed them over the letters. I ran out of foil tape, so you can see two of the corners I just coloured black....This is a HUGE step for me in my quest for less "perfection striving" me lol!!!

I added a few different "metal" elements to my card. I LOVE the mini gears from Tim Holtz idea-ology line, I added a few washers, brads, and vintage buttons too.

Our weekly sponsor Simon Says Stamp Superstore, is once again offering up an oh so generous prize of $50 dollar store voucher to one random participant!!!

I so hope you can join in on the fun at Simon Says Stamp and Show! You will definitely want to stop over there and see the amazing inspiration from the rest of the design team :)
Thanks so much for stopping by to visit! Hugs, TRace

Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge: And now for something messy.

Good morning!! I am here to share my project for the latest challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show- And now for something messy. This is the start of a new journey I am on...a little less "perfection striving me", be a bit more "messy" :) This is the first page of my new Dylusions Creative Art Journal. I must admit, I took me a long time to even start...the journal is soo pretty on its own lol. I know....oh dear. This process may not be short, or easy :) It's about the journey...right?

After inking the journal with my Dylusion ink sprays, I sprayed water over my TCW stencil. I let the water sit for a minute or so, then rolled a paper towel roll over the area to achieve the water effect below.

Next, I used a Dylusions stencil (9 X 12), and a darker ink; and created a border :) LOVE how her stencils fit the journal perfectly :) oops...slipping into psm :) I was initially upset about the big water drops, but I knew in the end that I could cover them up.

Here I have gone back and traced within the stencil with a white marker....just like I have seen Dyan Reaveley do :)

More layers of stamping and paint splattering :) oh so messy :)

These black stickers were the initial lettering, that I ended up peeling off after I took a photo....I so so often will change a project after I take a photo, for me I can see "clearer" in the photo then in real (in my face) life!!....anyone else????

A few close-ups to show the layers and layers, a bit MORE stamping; and the changed letters :)

What I am realizing so far...and this may change...is that I need my "messy" work to also be pretty...in my eyes that is LOL! However...my hands sure were messy with ink :)

Like every week at our challenges, the generous Simon Says Stamp Superstore is giving away a $50 dollar voucher to one lucky random participant ...Whoo Hoo!

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit...it is so appreciated! I sure hope you can join us at Simon Says Stamp and Show ...I would love to be inspired by your messiness :) Hugs, TRace
